How Do You Purchase Computer-Related Items?
Starting June 1st each department's procurement agent has the ability to purchase IT related goods as long as they comply with both the Business Office and ITS guidelines and procedures. However, ITS will continue to provide full service procurement services to you if this is your preference.

What to do if you still want ITS to purchase an IT related item for you:
Fill out a Form 58 and send to ITS, who will obtain quotes, do a bid if necessary, receive, and install the equipment or software for you. Unless prior arrangements with the CIO were made, please include your departmental budget code. More Information. PDF Document

How may I work remotely?
Staff and faculty can submit a workorder to obtain software needed to work remotely. ITS will provide you with Cisco VPN client software that virtually connects you to the Wake Tech network. The VPN client must be running in order to access Datatel. When installed on your home PC, the Datatel client allows you the same interface you use at work. The GroupWise client software is also available and provides you the same access as on your work PC.
2009 IT Equipment Maintenance Plan
Every morning from 3:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. some services (email, Colleague, Blackboard, etc.) are down for maintenance while we do backups and other necessary tasks. In addition, we must maintain other systems, such as the Telephone, Voicemail, core routing functions, and more. Starting January of 2009, ITS will perform extended maintenance on IT equipment 1 day per month during the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. While every effort will be made to make services available as quickly as possible, IT-related services may not be available until 8:00 a.m. on these additional maintenance days. The Schedule for Extended Maintenance for 2009 is as follows:
